Wenge

Wenge is a hard, dense wood with black-brown markings. The wood can be worked and turned reasonably well, although it does have a slight tendency to splinter. Because the wood has a dense structure, it can be finished very smoothly. The dark brown wood comes from West Africa (where it is called Panga Panga) and is often used in furniture.
