Look, you can only find this on a site for wood turners! Quarter sawn means that the groth rings, seen from end grain site, run straight through the wood. Quarter sawn wood is very suitable for making plates, for example. Because it barely bends. The drawing shows how the pieces are sawn. Of course there is no quarter-sawn wood with the pith of the tree still in it… This batch has been kiln-dried and has been with a furniture maker for about 10 years. The dust was thick on it when I bought it.
Cherry wood is characterized by a beautiful red-brown color. With quarter-sawn wood, the flame drawing is of course not present. Cherry is often used to make decorative furniture. In addition, because of the beautiful flames and reddish color, the wood is also often used as a veneer. Cherry wood is easy to work with. Both with machines and by hand. This cherry wood is kiln dried. It is very popular with wood turners. The wood is not very hard and durable, but it smells very nice during processing…. Use cherries especially indoors.
