Description
Umbila
Umbila also known as Muninga comes from South and East Africa. The colour of the wood is deep golden brown with reddish-purple flame markings, however, the markings are not prominent in the wood. Sometimes the wood gets light white specks, these are easily brushed away with an ammonia or water peroxide solution. Another big advantage of this wood, is that it hardly works and is therefore very popular among instrument builders. Umbila is related to the padauk species.

Wood is a natural product and every piece of wood is different. The wood in the picture is meant as an example and will never be exactly the same as the piece sent. Wood can sometimes have a small crack or an old wormhole. The wood is sealed with paraffin.
