Description
Tineo
Tineo is a pinkish red-brown wood with dark veins that give the wood its own markings. The grain is fine. It can be turned and finished beautifully. It is also a beautiful wood for carvers! The wood is usually called Indian Apple. This is strange because the tree grows mainly in South America (Chile, Argentina) and is not an apple tree… The botanical name is Weinmannia trichosperma from the family Cunoniaceae. It is an evergreen tree.
The Tineo tree can reach a height of about 30 metres with an average diameter of 60 to 100 centimetres. Tineo is usually made into an exclusive veneer. Often the dark veins are used to “bookmatch” the wood. As a solid wood, its availability is limited. Usually the dark veins are less present in solid wood. (After all, they are already made into veneer) Nevertheless, it is beautiful wood.

Nature
Wood is a natural product and every piece of wood is different. The wood in the picture is meant as an example and will never be exactly the same as the piece sent. Wood can sometimes have a small crack or an old wormhole. The wood is sealed with paraffin.
