This vacuum pump is made by Gast, an American company that only makes vacuum pumps and compressors. This oil-free pump is extremely quiet. The noise level remains below 70 dB(A)

The pump is easy to install and provides high vacuum levels. With good internal corrosion protection, the pump has a longer service life. Internal noise suppression ensures low noise levels (<70dB(A)). The pumps are compact and provide constant pulse-free vacuum while consuming little power, only 180 watts. The bearings are sealed and require no maintenance.

CAUTION

• It is advisable to always use the largest chuck in which a workpiece fits.
• Do not use vacuum with wet or freshly oiled wood. The moisture will be sucked out of the wood and destroy the motor!
• do not make the bottom of the bowl too thin. The bang when the bottom is sucked out by the vacuum is huge….
• How tightly your bowl sits on the vacuum chuck is determined by the quality of your wood and the size of the surface in the chuck.

To clamp properly with vacuum on a lathe, you need a number of things. Good chucks, pipes taps and gauges, and a connector for on the axis of the lathe.
