This vacuum adapter is made by Oneway, the Canadian manufacturer of quality wood lathes and accessories. This adapter is screwed onto the back of the hollow spindel of your lathe and allows air to be extracted through the shaft while turning. On the other side of the shaft is a vacuum chuck.

The vacuum adapter has an included threaded insert so it can be used on many lathes. Therefore, check what kind of screwthread is under the hand wheel. The large Oneway lathes are M33 x 3.5, the Stratos and Stratos XL are M25 x 1.5 mm. Use the pull down menu to find the correct thread. If an other tread is needed please send me an email. A hose goes from this adapter to your vacuum pump. For safety and comfort reasons, it is advisable to place a faucet and a flow meter in between. That is why there is also the vacuum connection set.

PAY ATTENTION

• It’s a good idea to always use the largest chuck that will fit a workpiece.
• Do not use the vacuum cleaner on wet or freshly oiled wood. The moisture is sucked out of the wood and destroys the motor!
• Don’t make the bottom of the bowl too thin. The bang when the floor is sucked out by the vacuum is tremendous…
• How tight your shell sits on the vacuum chuck depends on the quality of your wood and the amount of surface area in the chuck.

What else do I need for vacuum clamping?

In order to work well with vacuum on a lathe, you need a number of things. A reliable pump, pipes, taps and gauges and a coupler / adapter for the lathe spindle.
