Description
HSS blade
This HSS blade from Crown is now a scraper made from hardened HSS M2 steel. I use these scrapers to make all kinds of weird specialty chisels. For example, you could make a bedan out of it, but you can also grind it up into a round scraper or something completely different! You can of course just leave it straight … The blade is not sharpened when it comes out of the box.
The HSS of the chisels from Crown Hand Tools of Sheffield, England is hardened to ensure a longer tool life and the chisel can be given a nice, sharp edge.
The handles of these chisels are made of brown lacquered beech and are long so that they can be pressed against the forearm while turning.
Without a handle
There is also a version without a handle. You only buy the unpolished, hardened steel ready to hit a handle on it, but you have to make a handle yourself. So the blade still has to be polished and sharpened.
