Description

Connection set / Gauge kit

This set contains the necessary parts to connect the vacuum pump to the adapter on the lathe. In order to work properly and safely with vacuum, it is advisable to install a flow meter in the system. So you can always see how much negative pressure there is and therefore whether this is enough to tighten with a vacuum. Furthermore, a tap is useful to quickly switch the vacuum on and off. And of course the hoses that go with it. All this is included in this vacuum gauge kit.

Instructions

NB

It is advisable to always use the largest chuck that will fit a workpiece.
Do not use a vacuum on wet or newly oiled wood. The moisture is sucked out of the wood and destroys the pump!
Don’t make the bottom of the bowl TOO thin. The bang when the bottom is sucked out by the underpressure is enormous… (i know!)
How securely your bowl sits on the vacuum chuck is determined by the quality of your wood and the size of the surface in the chuck.
There is an air bubble in the vacuum meter. This is not a production error but is necessary for the meter to function properly.

What else do I need for vacuum clamping?

To properly use vacuum on a lathe you need a number of things. Good chucks, of course a vacuum pump and pipes, taps and meters, and a coupling piece for the spindle of the lathe.
