12/12/2024 Making screwthreads with Jan Hovens (Dutch spoken)
Screw thread in wood
Chasing threads is a lot of fun to do. Relaxing, almost zen.... And if you understand how to do it, it becomes more fun and easier! In this course you will learn how to chase threads from the master himself. Jan Hovens. There is no one in the Netherlands who knows more about screw threads in wood than he does. And he can explain and demonstrate it very well. The course is dutch spoken.
What size thread? In which wood? At what speed? All questions that will be answered. During the day you make your own box with a threaded lid. At the end of the course you will, of course, take your pieces home with you.
If you would like to participate in this course, you are of course very welcome. We do expect you to have experience with woodturning. You should be able to make a box with a lid yourself. The course focuses on the screw thread, not on the other techniques.
Hands-on!
There is of course room for "theory and fun facts" in this course, but the emphasis is on technology in practice. So it is a real "hands on" course. You spend as much time as possible at the lathe! Feel free to bring something with you to take notes.
