Sanding sealer
A good finish requires a perfect surface. You can make this with a Chestnut sanding sealer. After using the sealer, almost all products can be finished. Wax, water-based lacquer, turpentine-based lacquer, friction polish, etc. However, after using a sanding sealer you can no longer finish with oil. This cellulose sanding sealer is very quick to use. Dry after 30 seconds and sand after 5 minutes. One coat of sanding sealer is sufficient. Try adding a color to the Chestnut sanding sealer. You can add a turpentine-based stain to the sealer up to a maximum of 10%. This sealer is slightly thicker than the sanding sealer from U Beaut. This makes the Chestnut version slightly more suitable for use as a pore filler.
Why a sanding sealer?
- Sanding becomes more effective. After applying the sealer, the wood fibers swell and fibers are squeezed out of the wood. These fibers become hard and are then easy to sand away.
- It closes the pores of the wood. The finish applied afterwards remains ON the wood, so you use considerably less.
- It binds the wood fibers and forms a kind of primer layer for the next finishing coat.
Use
Apply the sealer with a brush or cloth before the final sanding grit. After about 5 minutes, sand lightly again and the surface is ready for the final finish.
Consumption
About 8-10 m² per liter. There is 500 ml in a can.
Safety
The sanding sealer is easily flammable. Although the sealer does not contain harmful solvents, it is still recommended to work in a well-ventilated area.
