Steb countercentre are handy things. The wood is not held by 4 teeth but by a whole row of small teeth.
The diameter is 1 inch. These counter centres are made of stainless steel. A big plus for woodturners who do a lot with green wood or wood containing a lot of tannic acid. And in an unheated workshop, these centres will therefore not rust! The centring tip has a spring whose tension can be adjusted. This point works as a centring pin. When the counter-centre is then tightened, the teeth push themselves into the wood. The shape of the teeth also makes the counter-centre suitable for turning the lathe clockwise. The work can easily be returned to the same position if it needs to be removed from the lathe for a while.
