Description

steb centre, Axminster

Steb centres are handy things. The wood is not driven by 4 teeth but by a whole row of small teeth.
The diameter is 1 inch. The centres are made of stainless steel. A big plus for woodturners who do a lot with fresh wood or wood containing a lot of tannic acid. And in an unheated workshop, these centres will therefore not rust! The centring tip has a spring whose tension can be adjusted. This point works as a centring pin. When the counter-centre is then tightened, the teeth push themselves into the wood. The stebcenters are also handy if you have a catch. The shape of the teeth keeps the centre turning and the wood standing still without further damage. The shape of the teeth also makes the centre suitable for turning the lathe clockwise. The work can easily be returned to the same position if it needs to be taken out of the lathe for a while.

Production

Stebcenters are useful for production work. You can keep the lathe running while changing workpieces.
