Save oil.

It's probably an annoyance for many people. Bought a new can of oil or paint, used a quarter and after six months the rest had dried. Logically, of course, but it wasn't the intention. Once a can has been opened, oxygen reaches the oil and it begins to harden. The best-case scenario is that a skin will form on it. Paint cans also have the problem of resealability. If the can or lid had received a blow, it could no longer be closed properly. In addition, properly reclosing the packaging and opening it again after some time was always a problem. Well, these problems are no longer necessary, there are now Stop loss bags.

Stop loss bags

Stop loss bags are bags made of three layers of plastic. This plastic does not let air in and the paint or oil cannot evaporate. The bags are flexible and easy to form with your hands. Once the oil is in, you can simply squeeze the bag until the air is out and screw on the cap. This prevents drying out. The bags are also transparent so that any contamination of the oil or paint can be immediately seen. The stop loss bags are reusable and refillable. Special funnels are available for this. The bags are suitable for storing oil, water and alcohol-based liquids. The bags are not suitable for liquids containing acetone, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone, toluene or xylene.

  • Can't remove all the air from the bag? Then lay the bag flat instead of standing it upright. This results in less dry matter. Make sure that the air bubble is in the middle of the bag and not against the seal of the bag.
  • Make sure that the paint, varnish or oil is always well shaken or stirred when filling the bag. They often contain mattifying substances (particularly lacquer) that settle on the bottom of the can. If there is no shaking, these substances will not enter the bag.
  • If dry residue does form, remove it using a fine  paint filter, or with tweezers for oil.
  • Rinse after use  clean the bag immediately with the correct solvent to prevent residues from drying in the bag. Fill the bag with a little solvent and wash it clean by moving and squeezing the bag.
  • So don't just use the StopLossBags for the oil or varnish, but also reserve a separate bag for the matching solvent.
  • It is best not to throw excess oil or varnish back into the bag because the quality may have deteriorated and can therefore not match the quality of your new oil or varnish. grope.
