Propolish is a finishing product to give your workpiece a natural high shine. Propolish is extremely resistant to water, oil and acids. Once Propolish has hardened properly, it can also come into contact with food. It is a fairly hard finish, resistant to scratches. For example, you can use it to finish wooden drinking cups. Or, as you see in the video, make a water bottle waterproof on the inside...

Of course

Propolish is made from beeswax, propolis and other natural resins with ethanol as a solvent.

Usage

There are several ways to use Propolish.

  • Waterproofing - Pour the Propolish into the workpiece that you want to make waterproof and shake it back and forth for a long time until you are sure that the Propolish has hit the wall well everywhere. Allow the workpiece to drain and dry for at least 3 days before filling it with water.
  • Finishing satin gloss - You apply Propolish to your workpiece with a cloth or brush and let it harden. Let it soak in for a while and polish it off with a cotton cloth. In this way you polish the resins in the propolis to a semi-gloss.
  • High gloss finish - Twist a wad of cotton wool tightly into a cloth. Like a kind of pad/sponge. Then put a few drops of polishing oil on it. Apply the Propolish and start polishing. By building up multiple layers in this way you can determine the gloss value yourself.

With all methods it is very important to allow the finish to harden properly before exposing it to water, oil or vinegar.  Think of 3 to 4 days!

Polishing oil

An oil is available to polish the Propolish to a high gloss. This polishing oil has been specially developed for use with Propolish. Many polishing agents contain solvents and/or synthetic ingredients that attack the resins in the Propolish. This polishing oil does not. The oil works as a lubricant, without using the oil the cleaning cloth can get stuck to the Propolish layer and damage the surface. Using this polishing oil when polishing creates a beautiful shine on the surface.

Drying

Propolis is dry enough to handle with your hands after just a few minutes. However, it only fully hardens after a few days...
