Crown 242KW-Scales guts, cryogenic 16 mm
Crown 242KW-16 mm Cryogenic scales guts.
I use a "cryo" scales guts for the last cut when I finish my scales. The ' Cryo'staal guarantees a sharp cut. The steel of the "Cryo" chisels of Crown hand tools from Sheffield in England has had an extreme heat/cold treatment which changed the structure of the steel. It has been given a longer stand-in period and a sharper cut can be applied to the chisel T. O. V the standard M2 HSS. At first I was somewhat sceptical about these "cryo-chisels" but working with it convinced me! I always do the "Final Cut" at my scales with a cryo chisel. Trained Wood turners will notice the difference! The handles of these chisels are of "ebonized" ash wood and very long, so that they can be printed well against the body while rotating. Please indicate your order how the chisel will be cut. ' Classic ' or ' Fingernail ' more about the cryoniseren of steel can be found here. Note: Crown scales gushes come from Great Britain and there the scale of scaling is measured differently than in the rest of Europe. From the left side of the flute to the right outside of the iron. Europeans and Americans use the thickness of the material as a measure. Because of this we call one for example "1/2 inch Bowlgouge" a 16 mm scaling guts, and a 3/8 inch is then 13mm.
