Walnut is a beautiful and luxurious type of wood. For that reason, it is often used as a veneer in furniture. Walnut can be turned very well and is easy to finish. Walnut wood is usually mostly brown with possibly black veins through it. European Walnut (usually Juglans Regia, Walnut) has broad white sapwood. American walnut (usually Juglans Nigra) have much less of that. These pieces of walnut have no sapwood.
