Minerol is our replacement for Chestnut Food Safe Finish. Different brand but it is the same product.

Minerol is a clear food-safe mineral oil. This thin oil soaks into the wood and protects it from splashes and stains in the wood and will not affect food in contact with it. The oil dries matte. Because this oil is so matt, it is also particularly suitable for sanding, especially when sanding wet wood, it works very well and gives a super smooth and soft finish.

Apply it in at least 3 coats for the best protection. When the wood no longer soaks up oil, it means the wood is saturated. Use a cloth to wipe off the excess oil again. Application can be done with a cloth or a brush.

If the Minerol is used for a salad bowl that is rinsed regularly, a new layer of oil should also be applied regularly.
