HSS steel 6 x 10 mm
HSS blade
This HSS blade from Crown is now a scraper made from hardened HSS M2 steel. I use these scrapers to make all kinds of weird specialty chisels. For example, you could make a bedan out of it, but you can also grind it up into a round scraper or something completely different! You can of course just leave it straight ... The blade is not sharpened when it comes out of the box.
The HSS of the chisels from Crown Hand Tools of Sheffield, England is hardened to ensure a longer tool life and the chisel can be given a nice, sharp edge.
The handles of these chisels are made of brown lacquered beech and are long so that they can be pressed against the forearm while turning.
Without a handle
There is also a version without a handle. You only buy the unpolished, hardened steel ready to hit a handle on it, but you have to make a handle yourself. So the blade still has to be polished and sharpened.
