Maple
European maple (Acer pseudoplatanus) is an attractive clear wood species with a white to cream colour. There is little or no colour difference between heartwood and sapwood of maple. In general, the wood shows an even structure. On the quarter face of the wood, a stripe pattern is almost always visible, on the flat face a flamed pattern. Maple can already show a soft sheen without finishing agents.
The light colour of maple is often treasured. To prevent discolouration under the influence of sunlight, special varnishes or bleaches are often used. We recommend the No Visible oil for this purpose.
