Melamine lak
Melamine lacquer is a wear-resistant, heat-resistant, waterproof, fast-drying, high-gloss lacquer.
The melamine lacquer is, just like Chestnut's sanding sealer, on a cellulose basis. The lacquer dries in 5 minutes (!), so it is very suitable for use on the lathe. The paint is mixed with a catalyst in the can. This will start working once the paint has dried. After 7 days the paint has reached 90% of its hardness. After about 2 weeks the paint reaches maximum strength and toughness. By the way, you don't have to take this into account, only if you want to use it immediately in extreme circumstances. Melamine lacquer is also available in a spray can. For best results, apply at least 3 coats. The contents of a can is 500 ml.
Gloss
Once the melamine varnish has been applied, the workpiece is ready. You can increase the shine by sanding again with sanding fleece (or something else , grit 800 or 1000 or similar) and then treat it again with a friction polish liquid or cream. You can reduce the shine slightly with a sanding fleece of slightly lower grit. A wash can also be placed over it. The workpiece will then feel softer.
Consumption
approximately (highly dependent on the number and thickness of the layers) up to 4 m2. Because it hardens so quickly, some experience is required when treating larger surfaces.
Use
Spray several thin layers for the best result. Also adheres to untreated dry wood. Can also be used outdoors.
Tips
Use a sanding sealer on a cellulose basis to apply the melamine lacquer.
Security
Avoid breathing the vapor and use it in a well-ventilated area.
