Bowl gouge 19 mm by Robert Sorby
Bowl Gouge 22 mm
This bowl gouge (842XLH3/4") from Robert Sorby is made of high-quality HSS steel. There is a fingernail profile. The ash handle fits comfortably in the hand and is long. This makes this bowl gouge ideal for medium large work. (such as biiiiig salad bowls)
There is often confusion about the thickness/width of the gouge. This is because the English measure the width of a bowl gouge from the outside of the chisel to the inside of the flute. The rest of Europe gives as the measurement of the chisel the thickness of the material. The material thickness of the steel is 22 mm, measured from outside of steel to inside of the opposing flute is 3/4 inch (so 19 mm).
