Robust American Beauty
The new premium standard in woodturning!
The American Beauty lathe has a movable head, stainless steel bed and the motor and controls meet the highest industry standards. This superior wood lathe has a 2.25 KW motor on 220 volts. The standard capacity is 72 cm between centers (132 cm for the long bed version) and 63 cm above the bed. Of course with variable speed and forward and reverse are standard.
Adjustable height
The American Beauty adapts to you. Each leg is made of heavy square steel tubing and can be adjusted independently. The legs are held on by heavy steel plates and these steel plates have hooks where you can place a shelf to hold tools or add even more weight.
Power enough
With the American Beauty it doesn't matter how fast you turn, you always have enough torque. The motor control (or frequency drive) is located under the lathe in the leg, protected from and out of dust. Engines were produced by the American companies Baldor or Leeson. The engines are highly efficient and meet high industrial standards. The American Beauty has a choice of 2 pulleys; high speed and high torque.
Remote control
The lathe has a remote control equipped with two strong magnets so it can be placed anywhere along the lathe bed, on the legs, the tailstock, the banjo or wherever you want. The remote control has a speed drive, and on and off (in both directions) switch.
Bearings
The main shaft bearings of the American Beauty are designed to carry 40% higher loads than the bearings of the large lathes of other brands. That is why Robust is the only lathe manufacturer that guarantees the bearings for seven years. That's two years longer than any other major lathe manufacturer.
The axis
The shafts are manufactured from hardened and stress-relieved 4140 Chrome Moly alloy steel. The bearing blocks are ground to depth with precision of 0.0003 inch. The shaft has a thread M33 x 3.5 European standard, so that a wide range of chucks and other accessories can fit. The shaft has a safety groove behind the thread. The four-jaw or faceplate can be secured in this so that your workpiece does not fall off when the bench turns the other way. Locking the spindle disengages the controls, so there is no more wear on the belts if you try to start the bench with the spindle lock engaged.
Fixed head and tailstock
The spindle stock is as small as possible at the front so that you have optimal access to your workpiece. Both the head and tailstock are made in cast iron and then precisely CNC milled to the smallest possible tolerances. To move them, lift the large lever, slide to the new position and press the lever down to lock the head. The fixed and loose heads are then 98% properly aligned. For the last 2% alignment of the heads you can use a double MK2 marker.
Indexing
The main axis of the American Beauty has a standard 48 position indexing that is easily accessible.
The construction of the bed
All Robust lathes are equipped with a stainless steel bed as standard, which means no more problems with the heads shifting on the bed due to rust caused by fresh oak or walnut wood. Under that bed is a huge square tube with a wall thickness of 10 mm. The tube is placed on its point so that the wood shavings slide off. Everyone knows the frustration that the Tool rest holder can no longer be moved because the bed is clogged with wood shavings....
Tilt away
The optional American Beauty Tilt-Away completely removes the heavy tailstock. This is useful when hollowing out or turning out the inside of bowls. The Tilt-away can be placed back in place with 1 finger thanks to the gas spring. So it takes no effort at all! No more lugging around a 25 kilo piece of cast iron...
